The Benefits of Oral Surgery With Our Soft Tissue Laser
Traditional oral surgery procedures require using a scalpel to incise, cut, and remove gum tissue. They also require sutures (stitches) to sew up the incisions for proper healing. As a result, traditional oral surgery results in lots of bleeding, swelling, pain, slow recovery times, and a risk of infection.
With soft tissue laser surgery, we use a laser light set to a specific level of intensity to perform surgery on a patient’s gums. Soft tissue laser surgery offers many advantages and benefits over traditional surgery, such as:

- Instantly cauterized incisions
- No need for stitches
- Significantly less risk of infection

Before Your Procedure
Before your procedure, you will have a consultation to determine whether or not you are a candidate for oral surgery. Dr. Sanyk will then allow you to talk about your upcoming procedure while providing instructions for the day of your surgery appointment.
During Your Procedure
Every oral surgery involves a slightly different process. However, each appointment begins with administering a local anesthetic to ensure you experience no pain or discomfort during the procedure.
After Your Procedure
Once your procedure is complete, we will provide you with a thorough list of aftercare instructions. These might include refraining from certain foods and drinks while you heal and oral hygiene recommendations for your recovery.
Feeling Nervous? Ask About Sedation Dentistry Options
If you have dental anxiety or a fear of visiting the dentist, we don’t want your nerves to keep you from getting the treatment you need to stay healthy and preserve your beautiful smile. This is why we offer sedation dentistry options to our patients.
If you experience dental anxiety, we can prescribe you an oral sedative medication to take an hour before your appointment. This will help reduce stress leading to your appointment and during oral surgery. For safety, sedation dentistry patients must arrange transportation to and from their appointments.

We offer a variety of in-house oral surgery procedures using advanced treatment technology. If you have a more complex case or require a surgical procedure that Dr. Sanyk does not typically perform, we will refer you to and work closely with an outside specialist to ensure you receive the best dental care possible.
